4 Years Later

Let me paint you a picture

It's June 16, 2010. A balmy summer night, and a self proclaimed theatre nerd is sitting in her bedroom watching the seconds tick by on a video upload to this weird website called YouTube, which turns out (to her surprise) houses videos other than Smosh and thevlogbrothers. She's co-president of the Harry Potter club at school. She's head over heels in love with her boyfriend. She wears sweatpants 3 days a week and owns one makeup palette (and to be honest, it was a gift). With her unruly curly hair, party girl reputation, and sailor slang she's the last person pre-teens should be taking advice from. And despite the portrait painted of what a perfect "guru" should be, she takes the chance on a summer hobby and posts her first video, in the only manner she knows how. Raw. Unfiltered. Candid, and 100% real. Would it be cliche if I said that after that the rest was history? Because it was.

Fast forward 4 years later. I'm sitting in that same bedroom, drinking that same tea my mom has made me since middle school, in that same mug I stole from my dad when I was 15, texting the same best friends I've had since the day I turned 11. So much of my life has stayed the same, yet so much has changed in these last four years I hardly recognize the life I live.

To say I never expected any of this would be a serious understatement. 'Meghan Rosette' was bred out of summer bed-rest & boredom, and today, that false identity scrolls through the credits on Nickelodeon. My brain cannot comprehend how any of this came to be. When people ask me what I attribute all of this success to, I stare back at them blank faced. I don't have an answer. I haven't got a clue in the world to why nearly 900,000 people care about me. (The only explanation I have is that every single one of you had a momentary lapse of judgement at the very same moment.) Regardless of how this happened, it did, and I can't thank you all enough. To say you changed my life would be doing you injustice. You changed my past, my present, my future, and me. I am who I am today because of this journey.

Up until I was 19 YouTube was purely just a hobby to fill my Sunday afternoons and lazy school breaks. But come September of 2012 all of that changed. My sophomore of year college I was bullied by my roommates, whom I considered to be some of my best friends. I became this creature engulfed in depression and I hardly recognized myself. And as I endured panic attack after panic attack, the only thing that kept me holding on was all of you. When it all got to be too much and I left college to get better, you were the first people I told. And the road to recovery led me here. Opening up about my struggles was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Admitting you have a problem to your friends and family is tough enough, but going on the internet and telling little girls who look up to you that you're battling the darkest of demons was earth shattering. To this day it was the hardest video I've ever had to make. And I'd make it ten thousand times over. At that moment, with that video, YouTube ceased to be a website with faceless usernames and it became my family. You all became my family. The support I received was unfathomable, thousands of messages came in telling me that I wasn't alone in my battle, that we were all struggling through this tough time together. You held my hand the whole way. And every day I'm holding your hand through whatever you're facing. We're in this together.

You saved my life.

It's been 4 years since I posted my first YouTube video and today I am living my wildest dreams.

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Let's Get Naked (Again) |Naked3 Palette Review & Swatches|

I'm a follower. I'll be the first to say it. I jump on bandwagons like they're leaving town tomorrow. Which is why I ordered Urban Decay's Naked3 Palette before I even looked up swatches. I'm ashamed to be me as well. But let's be serious for  second, the Urban Decay Naked line can do no wrong. And Naked3 is like a little piece of pure (rose) gold. And without further adieu, let the photos begin!

12 shades based in warm toned rose hues make this palette my very best blue eye'd friend. Light eye readers? You NEED this, it'll make those eyes P-O-P. But overall, this palette is beautiful. I LOVE the matte shades in this, my Lorac Pro Palette has my standards for matte shades high. But one thing I do find that the Naked3 is lacking is a good inner corner highlight. Don't get me wrong, I love a good satin cream under my brow-bone, but for the inner corner I prefer something with a bit of shimmer, and a tad more brightening. But that being my only complaint as of now? Sheesh, not bad at all!

Now, how does it stand up to the rest of it's over achieving siblings?

VS. Naked (Original): This OG will always have a soft spot in my heart, if you were a fan of the original, but not the sequel, the third will be more up your ally with the warm shades! For me? It's a pretty close tie, depends on the day!
Naked~Naked2

VS. Naked2: I've been pretty quiet about it, but Naked2 is one of my more untouched palettes this year. Maybe I'm on a matte-shadow kick but this just hasn't done it for me for quite some time. Naked3>Naked2

VS. Naked Basics: Naked Basics wins everything. Always and forever.
Naked Basics>Naked3

What do you guys think? Are you drinking the Naked Kool-Aid? Will you be running out and purchasing this? Let me know!

Thanksgiving Food Porn

Am I the only one still drooling over last night's feast? For a family of 3 the Rosette clan sure knows how to eat! I thought I'd snap a few food porn worthy pics of our Thanksgiving dinner! What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

And naturally mere seconds after I had my last bite of pumpkin pie (dairy free & grain free might I add!) I rushed on over to Best Buy...cause that's what us American's do! Stay tuned for a post all about my Black Friday experience & a haul video of what I got! Coming soon!

Happy Holidays!

Thankful Reflections & Thanksgiving OOTD

Today I am thankful. And today I reflect on the fact that each and every day I am thankful. For what, well- that changes daily.
Some days I'm thankful for hot tea and cable knit sweaters. Other days I'm thankful for long books and slow songs. Or even silence and a clear mind. But every day I am thankful for the moments. The good ones that send me soaring high over oceans and in planes to places I never dreamed of. And the bad ones, that send my flying straight back down, grounding me to my two humble feet. Together in a jumble of seasons and hours and seconds, those moments make up this life I lead. And this life I love.
So today I challenge you to find what you're thankful for. It can be the big things, your first love, your beating heart, the food in your stomach or the bed where you lay your head. But sometimes the big things break at the seams, so take a moment to count the little things. Green Sour Patch Kids, your favorite TV show, a good novel, fuzzy socks, things that smell good, long drives, sunsets and imaginary friends. We take what we can get and we make the most of that. Make it magical.
And if you can't find big things or little things. Let me be your thing. Let me be the first to tell you that I am thankful for YOU. That you are worth more than you can wrap your head around. That I care what happens to you. That you matter the whole world to me.
I live a life comprised solely of moments. And those moments are all thanks to you. Because one day you clicked on a YouTube video, and you found a girl with a twisted sense of humor, a love of Christmas, candles and makeup and you saw something in her. Something enough to bring you back. And before that girl on your computer screen knew it, there were half a million people who got her. And that girl felt a little less alone. And that girl became a somebody. And that girl is living out her wildest dreams. And that girl is me. And this girl says thank you.

Happy Thanksgiving

November Words

If I were to lie I could sit here and type out sunshine and rainbows about this glamourous city and sets, and jobs, and shiny new purses. Or I can lay it all out on the table, late nights and early mornings, parking tickets, bugs, homesickness and missing stupid things, like changing leaves, and temperatures below 70 degrees.
We all need a little pick me up, those words that remind you why you haven't slept in for 2 weeks, why you haven't made a new friend in months, and why you chose this life in the first place. So here are my words.

What are your words?

October Favorites

So I am a bad blogger. BAD BAD BAD! And I have excuses, they're good I swear! If you follow my vlog channel, or my twitter, than you'd know I've been busier than Beyonce these past weeks. (I'm not even kidding) With a new webseries out, and one premiering on Halloween, along with meetings galore, travel, meetups, events, and all the jazz, I've neglected you people :( And for that I am SORRRYYYYYY! So today, I bring you a pathetic excuse for a blog post letting you all know that my October Favorites video is up on my channel! See what I've been loving beauty, hair, fashion, skincare, tea, food, book, TV show and much more wise! (Plus it's filmed in my brand new apartment...don't you wanna see? Go go go!)

I promise I'll be back to you soon with a less pathetic post!
Love you all to the moon & back <3

My Current Foundation Routine: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness

And cue "started from the bottom now I'm here" (Which is still not that great, but HEY, improvements!) I've struggled with acne my whole life, so foundation for me is by far the most important step in my makeup routine. When I come across a foundation or a foundation-like product that I LOVE, I feel like it's only necessary to share it with you guys! So here we go, prepare your eyes for me without makeup...tis not a pretty scene...

So, are the gears in your little brains a-turnin' trying to figure out how I got from point A to point B? Check out my step by step tutorial & review of the 'It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Cream' on my channel! Click the video down below to watch!
